Some patrons note that the restaurant can get quite busy, especially during peak hours. This can potentially lead to longer wait times, particularly for larger groups. Some diners express challenges finding seating when arriving during high-demand times, especially on Fridays and Sundays.
A few customers have mentioned that while the food is generally excellent, occasional discrepancies in portion sizes have led to mixed experiences. Additionally, due to the volume of customers, occasionally, the service can feel a little rushed, though staff remain friendly and attentive throughout.

We stopped here on the way home after a weekend camp out in Barksdale. Rosemary, the owner, took care of us and it was a fantastic experience. I have learned that when I get an immediate answer to "If you want me to come back what should I have?" I will get 1) excellent food and 2) excellent service. Rosemary immediately told me to get the chicken fried steak with two eggs, potatoes, and toast. Then she brought out salsa and demanded that I put it on my eggs. She also called my friend "missy" for changing his order. 😅 We loved it. Anytime we're in the area we would definitely stop here. Others in our group got the French toast, the pancakes, and breakfast tacos. None we're disappointed.

Driving through Uvalde and I am so glad we stopped at Sunrise. The food and service were exceptional. The buttermilk pie was as good as my grandmother's. Every plate was delicious and, clearly, made with love and family recipes. Fresh and high quality ingredients. An absolute treat and a Texas treasure in a historical building.

It’s in a old town yet people are hard working and very friendly, I wish this place was in Houston Tx lol, but it was so good definitely recommend

We’re not from the area, but we’re so glad we stopped here! The food was absolutely delicious 🤤 with an authentic taste that truly stood out. When we arrived, we were told they were short-staffed, but despite that, the service was impressively fast—we were served within 10 minutes. Great experience all around. Highly recommend!

Wow. What a gem. This is a must try if you find yourself in Uvalde, Tx. The chicken fried steak is one if the best I’ve ever had; thick tender meat and crispy crust. The gravy was very flavorful. Even the french fries were cooked right; crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. My only regret was trying to finish the whole thing. It came with a side salad and toast for $12.

We go here for the food! It is the always on point! Laid back atmosphere, usually quick service. Wait time for food is always fair to quick.

Great Lunch !! Hamburger was tasty with very fresh ingredients on a slightly toasted bun. Onion rings were lightly dipped and fried delicious. French Fries are thick crinkle cut, nice crisp outside but soft inside. Chicken Fried Steak was fork tender with a light crispy batter and cream gravy, very tasty !!
